Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information StoryTime ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use the StoryTime app and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. StoryTime is built for families — protecting your and your child's privacy matters to us.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google Sign-In. We use this only to create and identify your StoryTime account — we do not receive your Google password.
Story content
We store the prompts you enter, the stories generated from them, your narrator and language preferences, and the resulting audio narration files, so they're available in your library.
Usage data
We collect basic technical data such as app version, device type, and API request logs to operate and troubleshoot the Service. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Payment information
If you subscribe to StoryTime Pro, payment is processed by our payment partner, Cashfree. We never see or store your full card number, UPI PIN, or netbanking credentials — Cashfree handles that directly and shares only your subscription status and transaction reference with us.
2. How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account and story library;
- To generate stories and audio narration via our AI providers;
- To process subscription payments and manage billing;
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service;
- To communicate with you about your account, subscription, or support requests.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Children's privacy
StoryTime is designed to be used by a parent or guardian on behalf of their child. Children do not create their own StoryTime accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Any story content featuring a child's name or details is entered by the parent/guardian account holder, who controls that content and can delete it at any time. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental involvement, contact us and we will remove it.
4. Who we share data with
We share limited data with the following categories of service providers, only as needed to operate StoryTime:

Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy and security terms. We choose providers that offer strong data protection commitments and use them only for the specific purpose listed above.
5. Data storage & security
Your account and story data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon), and generated audio files are stored in Google Cloud Storage. We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit, access-controlled infrastructure, and secrets kept out of client applications — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information to a high standard.
6. Data retention
We retain your account and story data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a story, it and its audio file are removed from our systems. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (e.g. payment records) for legal or accounting purposes.
7. Your rights & choices
- Access & correction — you can view and edit your profile and stories directly in the app.
- Deletion — you can delete individual stories at any time; to delete your entire account, contact us.
- Subscription control — manage or cancel your Pro subscription from Settings in the app.
8. Cookies & tracking
Our website uses minimal, functional cookies/local storage needed to run the subscription checkout flow (e.g. remembering your plan selection). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. International data transfers
StoryTime primarily serves users in India, and our infrastructure and service providers may process data in other countries (including the United States, via our cloud and AI providers). Where data is transferred internationally, our providers maintain appropriate safeguards consistent with their own compliance programs.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
